General Secretary’s Message
It was 5th July 2005 and I was at House of Rainbow Bridge in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I was looking for a girl Ratana, who joined the orphanage half year ago. I asked around and one of the children told me Ratana was sick. I asked the children to bring me to her and Ratana was lying on her bed. She gave me a smile when I entered the room and I gave her a hug. She was happily fooling around with her little friends and she asked me to pick her up and hold her to the window to see the view outside. All in a sudden she fainted and passed away in my arms. I was so shocked and I couldn’t react. I asked God whether it was His plan to let me witness Ratana’s death especially it was my 50th birthday the day after. Was there a special meaning behind?
God later said to me, "You take care of the orphans for me" as He is the Father of the fatherless (Psalm 68:5). The path of doubt was God’s way of bringing me to a deeper, richer knowledge of Jesus himself and I am willing to take care of these loving orphans.
Most of us were born in an affluent city that we have not suffered from starvation. I sincerely invite you to give helping hands to those who are less fortunate as I believe it is more blessed to give than to receive.
